Description
Hotfoot Powder belongs to the harder edge of traditional Southern rootwork.
Unlike formulas intended to attract, sweeten, reconcile, or protect, Hotfoot is a driving formula. It is traditionally employed when the desired result is straightforward: go away, move on, and stay gone.
Historically, Hotfoot work has been associated with laying powder in the path of the person being worked upon, working through footprints or tracks, and other methods intended to symbolically put that person’s feet in motion.
This is not subtle work.
Traditional Character
Hotfoot Powder is used in hoodoo and rootwork traditions to drive away troublesome neighbors, unwanted rivals, persistent enemies, disruptive individuals, or others whose continued presence has become intolerable.
The operative idea is contained right in the name:
Hot feet don’t stay put.
Because the work is designed to create movement and departure, experienced practitioners generally exercise considerable care about where Hotfoot is worked. It is not ordinarily scattered casually around one’s own living space, altar, or property.
If your intention is to protect or cleanse your home, use a protection or cleansing formula instead.
Hotfoot has another job.
Common Applications
Using Hotfoot Responsibly
Hotfoot is commanding work directed toward departure, and it should be approached with the same deliberation one would bring to any forceful working.
Know exactly who or what you are trying to remove, why you are doing it, and what outcome you are actually asking for.
Do not substitute Hotfoot for ordinary protection work simply because the situation is unpleasant. If the intention is keep harm away, that is protection. If the intention is get this person out of my life, that is where Hotfoot belongs.
And as always:
Magick supports action; it does not replace it.
